the blanket truth
02 December 2009
it's tumbling down, hard
i woke up and my lip was swollen. so that was a bummer. i had a really good sleep, though. got into bed at 5am and was totally wide awake. so, i sat there for like, 35 minutes and then i was finally tired. and then i had a great sleep!!
horoscope for today::
If all the world's a stage, you're definitely a star at the moment, and boy, do you look good in that spotlight. Love is also on the program, so plan your costumes and performances accordingly.
sure, i'll take that. yeah, i DO look good in the spotlight.
ok. it's 1:39pm. i'm gonna eat a bowl of cereal and then get in some messy clothes to help do a belly cast with the other Julie. yeah!
alright. have a great day! i'll talk to you later on tonight.
<3
"can we talk this through and make things right? oh, i'd sure as hell like to try."
i don't think i should even be on the computer right now. all my passwords and bank accounts are probably now free game out there in internet land.
and i believe i mentioned that my screen is partially falling off? yeah. so, my computer is not only falling apart on the inside, but also on the outside.
i don't know whether or not to laugh or cry.
i cried during Paper Heart. the movie i saw tonight. it was released on tuesday. but, for some reason they mailed it to my on monday. so i GOT it on tuesday. sweet deal!
it was so sweet. and so nice. and heartbreakingly awkward. Bill Haverchuck was only in one scene. it was still worth it. he's a good looking guy.
i decided i want to find a great guy. like, a really great guy. ok, thanks!
so, let me talk more about my horoscope. this is way more important than protecting my personal information that may be hacked into due to viruses. duh.
so, today is a new month. it's december. i must admit, i was excited for december to start. i had this feeling about december. i'm not joking. it was kind of like, a magical type feeling. even the word 'december' looked and sounded just a tad more sparkly than it ever had before.
and so i thought, "hey! it's the last month of 2009, i'll read my monthly horoscope."
so, i'm reading my horoscope for the month, and suddenly i feel very nervous. it's saying some pretty intense things. like, i actually got a nervous feeling in my stomach. and i thought, "uh oh, i hope i can live up to what the planets have in store for me."
this is what it reads:
December 1, Uranus turns direct in the first house of you and your personality and the change you've been experimenting with for several years take even your best friends by surprise. On December 2, the Full Moon in the house of your early childhood literally paints "the end" to a certain period of your life. Your daily routine is turned upside-down when Mars in daredevil Leo literally stands still in the house of everyday activity on December 20 to linger in that sign for months to come. Mercury, the planet of communication, follows on December 26, and you could make a startling statement to someone in your group and the story may spread like wild fire. You are going for broke this month,
okay, those last two sentences totally freak me out!!
You are going for broke this month,
ok, that LAST LINE totally freaks me out!!!!
In one full sweep, you could encompass both a brainchild and a love affair.
um, WHAT?!?! totally whoa.
when i first read the second to last line, i read, "you are going broke this month, pisces," and that really freaked me out. i immediately thought, "oh no! don't buy the laptop!!!" but then i reread it. going FOR broke. yikes. better or worse?
i think i was recently talking about how LAST new years i was reading my 2009 horoscope and it said that i would have 9 unfavorable months and 3 favorable ones. i feel that maybe this is one of the favorable ones. and i can't screw it up.
so, after reading this monthly horoscope, i went to another site and read a few different ones. all of them talk about something big happening at the end of the month.
another one said that i should "be careful" on the 25th. which, should be fairly easy because i just signed up to work a double. 8am to 10pm. or technically, 3pm december 24th to 8am december 26th.
and another one said that the 13th and 14th will be very great, very romantic days for me. hey, i'm fine with that.
anyways. all this is making me nervous. and i'm even more nervous for january 1st to come, only to find out that nothing exciting has happened this month. like, i guess that would be the worst. if, after all this hype, nothing happened.
and, it says that something that happens on 2 december (today) will paint "the end" to a certain period of my life. what does that mean? my computer dying?
i guess i don't take that to mean that something will END today, but that something will start forming today that will eventually lead to the end of something. something will start to paint.
i don't know. it's 4:35am.
i'm kind of excited for work tonight. which is strange. i'm just excited about interacting with people. that's even weirder, right?
hmm. i don't know.
i guess maybe i should go to sleep.
oh!!!! i know something great that happened today. i went to the post office. (do you know where this is going???) yeah, i saw the ruggedly handsome postal worker. he waited on me.
RUGGEDLY HANDSOME POSTAL WORKER: Hey! How ya doing?
JULIE: I'm good! How are you doing?
RUGGEDLY HANDSOME POSTAL WORKER: Good!
JULIE: [says p.o. box number]
RUGGEDLY HANDSOME POSTAL WORKER: (walking into the back room) Is it a movie??
JULIE: (omg he knows who i am!!!!) It should be!!
RUGGEDLY HANDSOME POSTAL WORKER: (comes out from the back) Yep!
oh, it was great. he remembered me. and that the only mail i ever get are Netflix! one of these days he will come out from the back room with my movie and i will say, "do you want to watch it with me?" won't that be great? yeah. it will be.
ok. now that all my personal information is available to all the world, i guess i'll go to sleep now. maybe. i'm not tired. it's 4:45am. why don't i ever want to go to sleep??
so, i don't know what tomorrow holds. hopefully nothing but good. for you and for me.
goodnight friends.

01 December 2009
so, i'm updating from my mobile phone because i'm fairly sure that computer is on it's last breath. Meaning, i've basically done about everything except call in the priest.
it's on it's way out. Much more sudden than i anticipated. Basically i'm not only getting the fake virus messages constantly, but i'm getting actual messages from windows basically saying, "sorry buddy - you're screwed."
and i think this might actually be it.
it won't let me boot up in safe mode either.
i'm a little worried right now, i'm gonna be honest. I'm not sure what i'm gonna do.
but on the other hand, i'm also kind of done, ya know?. Like, so freaking fed up with dealing with these things. And is this a sign that today was payday and i can now afford my mac??.
i don't know. But, it's currently 11:54pm and i've been trying to get rid of this virus since just after 10pm. I think i'll take a break.
in other news, i read my december monthly horoscope and my month sounds fantastic. More on that later.
love you all.

my closest hand was halfway round the world
THE SONG:: I Don't Mind
THE SINGER:: Alex Greenwald
THE SETTING:: the beach
it's really a beautiful song and i think it shows Alex in a different kind of way. plus, it's the only song i know which features the word, 'unbeknownst.'
<3
ps: look how easy and fancy this is for you!!
pss: <3
hot box!!
so.
so, i've been looking for these shoes. shoes to buy. here's the story about these shoes:
i was watching Away We Go and during the scene where John Krasinski is walking back from his job interview (he's all dressed up) you can see these shoes that he's wearing. and you only see them for a split second, but i thought, "i like those shoes. i want those shoes."
and then one day, i made it my JOB to find out what those shoes were. i only had them in my memory. i googled every possible version of "john krasinski shoes away we go" and found nothing.
then i started googling things i remembered about the shoes, "brown suede tie moccassin." still nothing.
but then! i did an image search. for something like, "tie moccassin" or something. and i finally found them.

yes! those are the shoes i want. i first saw them on John Krasinski. only the men's version.
anyways. then!!! the other night, i was googling pictures from the Fantastic Mr. Fox premiere and a full shot of Wes Anderson came up - and HE'S wearing the shoes too!!!!! so then i googled pictures of Wes and basically in every single picture he's wearing these shoes. as far back as Rushmore.
so then i really wanted these shoes.
so, the next day i went to Red's Shoe Barn in dover, new hampshire to look for them.
oh, they are Clark's shoes. in 'wallabee' style.
i went to Red's, and they had a whole section of Clark's - but not theses. i asked the worker if these were all the Clark's they had, and she said yes. bummer.
so then i went downstairs to the men's section and they had a pair, but in the boot version, and not in the right color. bummer again.
so then today, i went to the Super Shoes in west lebanon, new hampshire to look for them. they said they had them on their website. but, i went to the store and they were not there. i saw only two different Clark's shoes. and, there was like, nobody working there to ask. i was in there for probably 15 minutes and i think i was the only one.
i don't think there are any other shoe stores around here. i guess i could google that too. but, i might have to end up getting them online. i think they're super cute shoes.
but it's hard for me to buy shoes without trying them on because my feet are so weird. they are wide, high and short. most of my shoes are 6.5. and from the reviews i've read on these shoes, they run big. one person said to order a half size down. a 6? i don't know. my Adidas sneakers are a 6. we'll see.
anyways. that's the shoe saga. i was pretty proud of my googleing skills the day i found out what they were. it took a long time. i read through the entire Away We Go message board on IMDb to see if someone else had posted about them. but no.
alright. let's see.
OH OH OH OH OH!!!!!!!! i have the most exciting news ever. yeah, this is pretty good. it actually totally made my day.
so, via twitter i happened upon an article on new tv shows to be thankful for. like, the best new tv shows of the year.
which tv show has the NUMBER TWO spot, you ask???? um, BORED TO DEATH!!!!!!! that's right! #2!!!! there was only ONE new tv show better than Bored to Death this year, and that was Glee.
now, i don't know why i feel partially responsible for making Bored to Death the number 2 best new tv show - but i do. i read that article and was like, "YEAH! we did it!!!!"
but, i am not a part of the show in any way. i do not work for HBO. heck, i've only seen the first 2 episodes because i don't even have HBO. but yet, i still feel like i had a part in this. anyways. i'm really super excited. and i kind of can't believe it either. again, like i am intimately connected in some way.
congrats, Bored to Death!!!!! i'm so excited. and can't wait for season 1 to come out on dvd so i can buy it.
and speaking of totes awesome things that Jason Schwartzman does - let's talk about Fantastic Mr. Fox.
i saw it!!!!! with Andrew, Kara, and Kara's boyfriend. we went saturday night. so, let me talk about how i didn't stop smiling for 90 straight minutes.
what a great movie!!!!! so funny. so sweet. so beautiful. wow. what a great movie. like, so funny. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!! that's not a suggestion.
it was amazing to watch. oh, it was so funny. it was like, a kid's movie for adults. there weren't any swears. whenever there would be a swear word, they would say the word, 'cuss.' so there was a lot of, 'what the cuss,' 'are you cussing with me,' 'clustercuss.' it was very funny.
i thought the voices for the animals were matched perfectly. especially George Clooney. he was great. and he was like Ocean, cause the whole movie was Mr. Fox planning a job to steal from the three farmers. fans of the Ocean's 11 movies will love this.
oh. it was great. i really loved it. i immediately rated it five stars on netflix. Best Animated Feature. you read it here. and Wes Anderson should be nominated for Best Director already.
FANTASTIC MR. FOX = loved it. five stars. i'll go see it again with you.
MORE GOOD NEWS = they turned on my star!!!! my star on the mountain!!! remember from last year???? my viewing of the star has not been tainted since i saw those deer around it when i climbed the mountain. no, it's still beautiful. i came back from thanksgiving break and it was lovely. what a warm welcome back to this strange little town in which i live.
i'll try to get a good picture this year.
SOME BAD NEWS = the screen is starting to fall off my laptop. i opened it the other night, heard a popping sound, and then like, this whole panel came off. and my screen is really loose and keeps falling all the way back. and i keep having to snap this panel thing back into place so there won't be "inside computer" exposed. i kind of can't wait to get rid of this thing.
i emailed my uncle because he is the master of all things Apple. and ran my Mac choice by him. he said it was a great choice. there! it's done. decided. and now i can't wait. maybe by the end of this week i'll place the order.
hm. was that all? i had a list of things to tell you.
1. fantastic mr. fox
2. bored to death
3. my shoes
4. computer screen
that was my "blog things to talk about" list that i constantly keep in my head.
ok! i think that's all. it's 11:16pm now. i'm hungry. so i'm going to go eat and watch that movie. and then maybe i'll tell you about it.
just today i've really been appreciating 'By the Bed' by Phantom Planet. it's really a beautiful song.
ok! have a great night. have a great day!!
aw, i just got really excited to talk to you! i'm really happy we have this online connection together. i heart you.
ok for realz!!
bye :)
"Basically, there's three grabbers, three taggers, five twig runners, and a player at Whackbat. Center tagger lights a pine cone and chucks it over the basket and the whack-batter tries to hit the cedar stick off the cross rock. Then the twig runners dash back and forth until the pine cone burns out and the umpire calls HOT BOX! Finally, you count up however many score-downs it adds up to and divide that by nine."

where would all the valley girls go to hang out?
anyways. everyone is my house right now is taking a nap. save for me. so, i figured i would talk to you.
i went out this afternoon with people i used to work with. meg. amy. kara g. jen. it was very fun to see them all. it had been like, a year since i hung out with them all. i remember because it was last thanksgiving. we went out for lunch. it was so nice to catch up.
and then tonight!!!! oh tonight. sweet tonight. me. andrew. kara. kara's boyfriend. are going to see Fantastic Mr. Fox. i'm pretty freaking excited if you can believe it. i'm meeting up with andrew beforehand to hang out. looking forward to that as well!!!!!! it's a day of people i haven't seen in forever. it's a nice day.
thanksgiving here was good. i did all the cooking the night before so all i had to do was put things in the oven. it is a lot less stressful. everybody seemed to really like the food. i didn't eat very much of it because i didn't really like it. i don't like big dinners like that.
i hope you all had a great thanksgiving!!
we watched Nancy Drew last night. the new one with Emma Roberts. it was eh, okay. not enough mystery. too much other stuff. BUT. they had an advertisment for the Nancy Drew soundtrack at the beginning of the dvd. and they named a couple bands, whatever. and then as soon as the credits start to roll, a ROONEY song starts to play!!! and we were all shocked! they didn't mention them in the beginning! like, what? it was When Did Your Heart Go Missing. um, hello, great song! so, this is an addendum to the soundtrack advertisment at the beginning of Nancy Drew - ROONEY. there's a Rooney song too.
the other night we watched Angels and Demons. the one where Tom Hanks has normal length hair. also with Ewan McGregor and Stellan Skarsgard. how could so many hotties be in one movie???? it was insane at parts.
but, i really liked the movie. i have not read any Dan Brown books. although i hear he is not a very good writer, i really appreciate his research. or, his research assisstants. but Dan Brown lives right near here. so, there's that.
anyways. i thought i was not going to understand anything about this movie. like my experience with the Bourne films and the Ocean's Eleven films. but, i thought it was super enjoyable. really interesting and action packed. it was like National Treasure, but in the Vatican.
and then last night i also watched this Japanese film on netflix. about a guy who moves into this apartment with a really thin wall, and he can hear everything going on next door. and he becomes obsessed with the woman living there and starts to super stalk her. some parts were creepy. but, he really seemed like a nice guy, so that balanced it out. and then in the end, they start dating. and it was really interesting because there were two different actresses who played the girl next door. and the first one was what he imagined her to look like, and then once he actually saw her, the actress changed. same with her apartment. at first it was all pink and fuzzy and super girly. but then he actually saw it, and it completely changed to what it actually was. at first i was confused. but then was totally amazed.
but, i think Fantastic Mr. Fox will take the cake. i'm hyping it up so much it's crazy. i'm really excited to hang out with Andrew.
hm. okay. i can't think of anything else right now. i might go downstairs and heat up some cider. it's so insanely cold in my house i can't believe it. my nose is constantly freezing and my hands are so cold it's hard to type. and i'm wearing a flannel shirt with a wool cardigan over it.
ok now. i hope you all are having a great saturday night. and a great thanksgiving weekend. i'll be back to work tomorrow night. i knew this week would fly. i'm sad about that.
alright! of course i'll let you know about Mr. Fox. and i'll talk to you later! take care, everybody!
i'm gonna miss the galleria
it was the only place to go this side of town
goodbye to the galleria
i just heard today they're gonna knock it down

i found an entry titled 'Joolie's Life Plan.'. I spelt my name like that through most of high school.
but, i saw that entry just now and thought, 'hey, perfect.'. There are 20 things on the list and i would like to share some of them with you.
1). Write in my journal often.
3). Go to college.
4). Meet new people and make friends.
6). Become famous
7). Move to London
9). Buy a VW bus
13). Host Saturday Night Live
17). Write an autobiography that is better than Maya Angelou's
yep. Hey, i've done pretty well on numbers 1, 2 and 3.
and then i have a list called "random stuff to do" which i guess is stuff in between my life plan stuff.
- get my drivers license
- find Atlantis
- hold a press conference
- find a new galaxy
ya know, the normal stuff.
anyways, i wanted to share these with you. I'm updating from my phone, btw.
i just watched an hour of 'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant.'. Man. That show is insane. One lady had her baby in the bathroom of a theme park. All true stories!!.
alright. Time for sleep maybe.
hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving.
love you all.
23 November 2009
oh night divine
it's thanksgiving week!! i'm cooking everything, just like i did last year. i plan to tweet my way through it. however, our thanksgiving will be held on Friday. kara is working on thursday and we decided to have dinner on friday instead. so, i'll most likely be cooking all day thursday, when you're all eating.
but! great news about friday = JONAS MARATHON. don't ask me how i know this. i definitely wasn't thinking to myself, "i'm going to be in a house with cable tv all week, i should check with Jonas is on." nope. that thought never crossed my mind.
but! if the information on disney.com is correct, it's an afternoon full of episodes i haven't seen yet!!!!!
i'm pretty excited. i'm so thankful i discovered that show. it has really brightened my life.
anyways. back to thanksgiving dinner. last year i was feeling pretty ambitious and wanted to cook the whole dinner, expecting it to be a huge failure.
it was pretty much the exact opposite. it kind of rocked. and i kind of rocked it. i planned everything out ahead so i was not stressed or rushed. i plan to do the same this year. as much as i hate cooking and baking, i'm kind of good at it. i must admit.
and really as much as i don't like thanksgiving food, i really enjoyed cooking it all. so! here's hoping for the same luck this year.
kara's making the dessert, though. and i hope the mashed potatoes. she wanted to make apple crisp with homemade maple ice cream. and i said, "no. make a caramel cake with chocolate mousse and homemade maple ice cream." and she said, "ok." so that's what she's making.
oh i'm so excited to go home!!!!!!! feeling super anxious and guilty about leaving Ruby Tuesday, though. i wish her and her big sister Chowder got along. i have three people coming in to check on her, though. so she should be fine. i'll just miss her a lot.
other than thanksgiving and the jonas marathon, 2 other exciting things are happening this week!!!!!
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox opens. you should all go see it. kate bosworth and alexander skarsgard saw it together over the weekend. and i'm going to see it with kara this week. that should be enough motive for you all. (plus JASON and MERYL.)
2. the Rooney tour starts!!!!!! on friday!!! in los angeles!!!!! in just a few short weeks, KARA AND I will see Rooney in Cambridge!!!! it's going to be the best. i'm soooo excited.
what a great week, right?
i did lots of cleaning today. cleaned out my kitchen, living room, and bedroom. i must admit, my apartment looks really nice and big when it's cleaned. i should post pictures for you all sometime.
and i packed up my stuff to bring home so i don't have to do it in the morning or afternoon before i leave. aren't i sooo on top of things??? yeah. there was not a lot of Glee watching today.
actually, i still had time to watch:
1. Heroes
2. Glee x2 episodes
3. Grey's Anatomy
so, i'm all caught up with Glee now!!! (sunday was a marathon day, just like planned.)
and i know who they should write on a guest spot!!!! JOEL GREY!!!!! yes yesyes!! i know, i'm totes brillz. last season he had a guest spot on Private Practice, and just like, two weeks ago he was on Grey's Anatomy as Izzie's science teacher from high school!!!! and he's a superstar!!! he should come on as a former Glee club teacher and there should be a showdown between him and Mr. Schuester. yes! hello Glee writing team, please read my blog. i have great ideas for you all.
he should have been in the episode when they sang Defying Gravity. since he was in the original cast of Wicked. or, that's when they should have had Kristen Chenoweth on.
i really liked Kurt's dad in that episode. he really stood up for Kurt.
ok.
so, the other night i had a dream that me and Kara were just walking outside, and then all of a sudden out of nowhere, this huge, mean wolf started following us. he was like one of the wolves from Beauty and the Beast. he had sharp teeth and sharp claws. and so we had to get on the roof to get away from him. and then he jumped on the roof. and then i woke up.
so naturally, i looked up 'wolf' in the dream dictionary. here's what i found:
To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes survival, beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are able to keep your composure in a variety of social circumstances and blend into any situation with ease and grace. You are also a loner by choice. Negatively, the wolf represents hostility, aggression, or sneakiness. It may reflect an uncontrollable force or situation in your life.
so. yep. i'm a loner.
my goal is to be asleep by 3am. wake up between 11-11:30. finish some things before staff meeting. staff meeting ends at 3:30. hopefully on the road by 4.
last night, i was so tired and i wasn't really feeling great. i've been all stuffy and sneezy. so i got into bed at like, 2:30am. and i didn't get to sleep until after 4. bummer. i watched the newspaper guy drive all around the neighborhood. not in a creepster way. you can seriously hear that car a mile away. it's so loud.
anyways. what else.
what are you all doing for thanksgiving????? tell me!! i really want to know. what are you all doing to celebrate the opening of Fantastic Mr. Fox?? kara asked me to bring home the Darjeeling Limited.
i might start watching True Blood. now that Veronica Mars and Freaks and Geeks are done. i need a tv show. i think it might be true blood. although, i'm worried it's too scary and bloody. someone convince me otherwise.
also, today has been a week since i started cleaning my earring with alcohol three times a day, and switched from the stainless steel post to a 14k gold post. and, i am proud to say, i no longer have gangrene. i cured it myself!!! the hole is no longer black. the bump is not swollen, red and hurting. i can sleep on my left side again!!!!
so, on the back of the alcohol it only says to use it for a week. so, i'm going to take a few days off and see how we hold up.
ok. it's 2:02am. i think i am going to take some cold medicine and go to bed. or maybe just ibuprofen. i haven't decided yet.
hey, last night i watched this movie on instant netflix called, The Babysitters. it was about this teenage babysitting service that turns into a call girl service!!! at first i wasn't sure about it. but, two of my friends on netflix really liked it. so, i thought i would give it a try. i also really liked it! it was kind of crazy. the deal was, these girls would babysit the kids, and then when the husbands drove them home, they would have sex. John Leguizamo was the main dad. and Cynthia Nixon was his wife. it was a pretty good movie.
Ruby has been doing this thing lately where she absolutely needs to get under the sink. in the cabinets. and she sits in front of the doors and opens them and lets them slam shut like, a million times before finally going in. and it makes me so nervous because it's so dirty there. this is the sink that was leaking a few months ago. so, it's all grimy and dirty. like, the pipes. and i don't like it when she does it.
and i tried putting an elastic band around the door handles. but she chewed through it. i'm just going to leave it, i think. if she wants to sit in there, so be it. i don't want her stressed out about it while i'm gone.
ok. 2:11am. i think now i'm going to go to bed. i think i might be able to sleep. i'm tired. and i don't feel great.
so! i'll hopefully update from maine. i will. because my mom and kara have to get up early for work. and they leave me alone. and i get wireless in my bed, unlike here.
alright! have a great tuesday!!!!!
oh i'm so excited for this week. i can't wait i can't wait.
ok! i'll talk to everybody later. have a great day :)

21 November 2009
"it'd be like a priest getting to work with jesus."
so, i think Glee should make a habit of having awesome broadway stars do guest spots on the show. i mean, i'm only 2 episodes in, so i don't know if that happens or not. but, that's how it should happen.
oh! there could be a Glee/Private Practice crossover episode!!!!! that way Taye Diggs could show off his amazing vocal talent.
ALSO, so Glee is basically like a musical HEROES!!!!! what is with all the Heroes people on Glee?!?!?! Claire's real mom, Charlie, and Elle's dad! cr-azy! and those three people were all killed by Sylar! and now they're on Glee. ain't it the truth..
ANYWAYS. Glee. yeah, this is basically the way i want my life to work out. i want to be able to sing like them!!!! aahhh i'm so jealous. i envision my life and i am a huge singing sensation.
that's my new life direction: singer. watch out, world! here i come.
yeah. i'd be about as successful a singer as Tobias is an actor. on Arrested Development.
so, in my post last night i was very conflicted on how to go about watching Glee. and then my wonderful, "TV-in-the-know" friend Dan, suggested this website for me to try. and i tried it!!! and the streaming worked for about 16 minutes. just enough to make me LOVE the show. and then it stopped working. i even refreshed the page. meaning that it had to reload everything again. yeah. i waited a looooong time. and then the second time it stopped at 20 minutes. and i wasn't going to wait again, only to have it stop working 4 minutes longer.
so, i did the next natural thing - i bought it from iTunes. all that non-stop working HAS finally paid off.
but then, (funny story), the first episode took FIVE HOURS to download. hahaha. you might think i'm joking. but no. i am not joking.
five freaking hours. for a 45 minute episode. i watched 27 Dresses and took a bath and checked in with Courtney and then it was finally done. and, lucky me, i didn't realize it was downloading in HD (high definition), and the episode would barely play. because my awesome computer just can't keep up. i saw most of the episode.
i made sure that the rest of the downloading episodes were in non-high definition. and i SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. because whenever i watch tv shows on say, ABC.com, i always have to watch them in standard definition because it just will not work otherwise.
anyways. so, now i'm finally on episode two. that one only took 2 hours to download. (standard def) and i start watching it - and it's working beautifully.
now, i don't know if i've told you about my computer crashing issue. how my computer will randomly crash if you turn it the wrong way, if the battery cord becomes unplugged, if you say, pick it up and place it somewhere else. these are all "timebomb" instances where my computer could crash at anytime.
THREE TIMES. 3 times. not one, not two, but THREE times, did my computer crash in the middle of the second episode of Glee. that means shutting off the computer. turning it back on. waiting for everything to start up. opening iTunes. getting my HD/non-HD downloads in place. opening my external harddrive folder (because this is where i'm downloading the episodes). and finally playing it.
this whole process alone is like, 10 minutes.
let me just say that in order to get through this whole ordeal, i just had to keep imagining my Macbook. sitting out there, somewhere, waiting for me to come and take it. to make it my own. i also kept imagining myself hurling my current laptop against a brick wall.
but, through all of this, i was thrilled to be watching Glee. and let me just say, that i have waited countless years for this musical phenomenon to take over the world.
PEOPLE LOVE MUSICALS. (yes kara, even you.) and they just don't like to admit it!!! it's a serious problem facing our nation. nay, facing our world.
and, as much as i (kind of) hate to admit it, i think some thanks has to be given to Mister Zac Efron. he's a good looking kid. nay, a great looking guy. and he just loves to sing and dance. he got people excited about musicals. really excited. like, really excited. probably billions of dollars worth of HSM merch excited.
and then came the great Meryl Streep. appealing to all ages. singing and dancing her way to the number 2 spot at the box office!!!!!!!! (Mamma Mia was released the same day as The Dark Knight....it was to be expected.)
we moved up from a made for tv kids movie. to a real movie theater movie. and now to a weekly tv series. that i think people are kind of going crazy over.
i promise i won't say 'nay' again.
anyways. i can't wait to get to the Kristin Chenoweth episode of Glee. ah! she's so great. and tiny!
it's really a surprise that the vampire musical didn't work out. NOW they should open the vampire musical. now that people are so weirdly obsessed with vampires. i mean, come on, it was an Elton John musical. was it really that bad?
anyways.
GLEE = good
VAMPIRES = bad
ZAC EFRON = really good
this is what we've learned so far from my blog post
oh,
JULIE'S COMPUTER = even worse
so, what's the deal with Black Friday? do things apply to online? like, online sales? and, i never realized that the stores actually give away their sales beforehand. i guess i thought it was a huge mystery until you arrive at the store. but no! so, while we're on the subject. does Apple do any black friday deals? are they known for their amazing sales?
i could probs just google this. it's just more fun if i hear if from you. i pretend that if i ask you a question, you'll just know the answer immediately!
also, back to Glee, the teacher, he was in Hairspray, correct? on broadway. he was the broadway version of zac efron. Link Larkin. i believe all this is true. and, i just wanted to say, that i can totally picture him in that role. with his curly little hair. and charming smile.
so, at first my plan for this weekend was to watch Glee all day on saturday, and then do spring cleaning on sunday. but, now that my Glee plan hasn't quite panned out, i'll have to spend all day Sunday watching it, and scrap the spring cleaning altogether.
i mean, winter cleaning.
ah well. it'll have to wait until the spring.
i set up my cell phone so that whenever kara calls me a picture of Meryl Streep and Amy Adams comes up. i was really excited when i realized i could do this, and really proud that i figured it out.
ok, back to Glee. this is the big number at the end of the Pilot episode. you must watch it. that's me using my mind power over you. my Matt Parkman/Sylar mind power. the cast is singing Journey's, 'Don't Stop Believin'' very appropriate for them. and for me. for anyone, really.
and that song makes me remember dancing at Kerianne's wedding. and it makes me really happy to think about dancing at Kerianne's wedding.
ok. it's currently 3:37am. sunday morning. i'm probs gonna try and watch one more episode and then head to bed. i'm not really feeling tired. and, i've learned that i just have to be absolutely exhausted in order to get into bed and fall asleep. like last night, i got into bed at around 3:35am, and i couldn't even lie down. i sat up in bed until 4:30 trying to get tired.
alright. how was your saturday?!?!!?! i sometimes forget to ask you how your day was. i'm sorry for that. usually nobody ever responds. but, if i write that sentence, 'how was your day?', and it makes you think about your day, even if you don't reply, that's still good. it's good to reflect. which is basically what this blog is. reflections of my day. and thoughts on celebs.
ok! have a great sunday. you know what they say! sunday. funday. so true.
love you! talk to you later!!!!

choking on the dust
i don't know. it was good, i guess. some parts were funny. mostly lonely, though.
so lately i've been finding myself stressed out because i can't stop thinking of what to get people for christmas. and it's weird. i've also been having a hard time falling asleep this week, and i just lie in bed making lists of people and what i'm getting them for christmas. it's annoying because it makes me stressed when i'm trying to sleep.
the past two nights it's taken me a long time to fall asleep. and last night i kept waking up. i woke up at 6:30am because it was raining so hard. it was pounding against my windows. and then Ruby Tuesday woke me up at 7:30am. she's been waking me up soooo much lately. and then the phone woke me up at 8:58am. and then i woke up at 11am because i could hear people talking outside.
now i'm happy because a Nick Lachey song just came on my itunes.
ugh i just can't wait to be home. i feel like even when i do nothing at my house, it's still more exciting than doing nothing in this house.
i kind of feel like watching 27 Dresses. but during the R.Pattz movie i had this urge to watch The Darjeeling Limited. and i almost shut off the movie. i think i'm just so excited for Mr. Fox.
WHICH, was the #1 thing on Entertainment Weekly's MUST LIST. things you MUST experience this week. NUMBER ONE. i'm so excited!!!!! can you tell????
today i watched a clip of an interview with Wes Anderson, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. the full interview is out on monday. YOU BET your bottom dollar that i'll post it here. the clip was basically Meryl acting beautiful and laughing at Bill Murray's jokes while Jason and Wes sat there awkwardly. LOVES IT.
tonight during my check-in with Courtney, it was really funny. she was giving me a recap of the night at work in relation to how high her "irratated/annoyed meter" was. on a scale of 1-10, the highest it went was 9. it was great.
i don't know what else to say.
i didn't do anything today. and i don't have any plans for tomorrow.
i'm feeling really, really anxious about leaving Ruby Tuesday alone for next week. there will be someone here to feed her. but, she needs so much attention. oh i feel so guilty already.
just played some JoBros related games on the disney channel website. the "stellavator styling" game is pretty intense. i scored like, a 11207 or something. you only have 46 seconds to pick out outfits for all three of them!!! and the second round includes IRONING!!!!! and we're talking, shirts, pants, and shoes. Stella will text you and be like, "Quick! Jonas has to get ready for a RECORD RELEASE!!!" and then you'll pick out the appropriate clothes. or, "Hurry! Jonas will be late for THE MOVIES!!!!" or, "A HIGH SCHOOL DANCE!!" or, "A BALLGAME!!!" it was stressful.
but oh, the thought of dressing the Jonas brothers. just give em their three essentials: cardigans, vests, plaid shirts. throw in some tight pants and cowboy boots and they're done!
so, i've been noticing how thin my hair is. and it's really bumming me out. i really want to get my hair redone. everybody here has been going to the hairdresser and coming back with sexy hair.
aaah!!! i just read an article called, "7 Book Characters Hotter Than Edward Cullen." #2 was Laurie from Little Women. YES. and #3 was Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables. YES YES!!!!!!
hm. can you tell i'm bored?? i am. it's 2:31am. i feel tired. but i kind of know that as soon as i get into bed i won't fall asleep.
Sleep, those little slices of death; Oh how I loathe them.
Edgar Allan Poe.
maybe i'll go to the library this weekend. oh but it's so tiny in there. and it's so hard to find things. and they have nothing i want to read anyways. like, they have no books it's insane. i'll look for a book in the card catalog and they never have it. i have to find out about ordering things. interlibrary loan type thing.
it was so easy in college. it's much harder in the real world.
you can quote me on that. Julie Evans. here, i'll make it official:
it was so easy in college. it's much harder in the real world.
Julie Evans.
so, i'm pretty mad at myself for not watching Glee right along with the show. online. on Hulu. because the other night i really wanted to watch it. like, start watching it. but Hulu only has episodes 6-11. UGH!! and i tried searching for it online elsewhere, but it was not to be found. and i am upset because i wanted to spend the weekend watching 11 episodes of Glee.
i think i would love that show. Courtney told me the other night that i would love it. Dan wrote about it in his blog a while ago and i thought, "omg that show looks amazing." and then i meant to watch it, and meant to, and meant to, but never did.
that main girl on the show reminds me soooo much of Idina Menzel it's crazy. have i told you that before?? probs.
ugh! i want to watch that show. and i want to watch it with my mom. maybe i'll just buy it from iTunes.
anyways.
it's 3:03am. right now. ugh, that band 3oh!3. how much do i despise that band? a lot. i cannot STAND that song they sing. i don't know what it's called. it's just rude. and tasteless. dislike.
ok. now it's 3:12am. i keep getting distracted from blogging. i can hear the newspaper car outside. he's early tonight. last night he came at like, 2:30am.
it's weird. that newspaper guy.
know what i like? people who make sandwiches in the middle of the day. like, not lunch time. not dinner time. just like, whenever they want a sandwich. a great example of this is Paul Rudd in Clueless. at the end, when Cher realizes that she's in love with him. and he just goes into the kitchen and makes a sandwich. i love that part.
just like, "i'm hungry. oh, i think i'll make a sandwich." it's awesome.
and i don't think i can get any better than that. SO. i'll sign off for tonight. 3:18am.
i'll talk to you tomorrow. sorry this has been a lame post. it's okay if you check the 'lame' option below.
have a great saturday!!!!! hope you are doing something you love.

"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
i liked Chinatown. it was one of the only movies that i really liked from my Amherst film class. that, and Blue. and Elephant. and Breathless. i definitely appreciated that class more after it was all over than while it was happening.
so. work tonight was good. from 4pm until about 6pm i was hanging out with the little girls. first we were playing in the office. they were having crawl races. man, the little one can really move fast. then we moved into the living room. we watched Elmo in Grouchland. the part about bouncing at the end always really confuses me. it's so strange. but, one of the girls sat on my lap and cuddled with me while watching it. that was sweet.
from 7:30 to 8pm i was at the library with one of the residents. i paid off my late fees. my books were like, three months late. ah well.
then came home and Courtney was on the computer reading yahoo's celebrity gossip site, OMG. i was very excited about this. we went through all the celebrity pictures. Courtney is awesome. i think it's really great that we work together. we came to a picture of Adrian Grenier, from Entourage. and i got very sad because i MISS ENTOURAGE SO MUCH. so i said,
JULIE: OMG! I love him!!! Entourage!!!
COURTNEY: He's pretty cute!
JULIE: Entourage!!!
COURTNEY: And! His last name means 'attic' in French. And you LIVE IN THE ATTIC!!!!
JULIE: Basically we're meant for each other.
COURTNEY: Basically.
yeah. that's how awesome it is working with Courtney.
and i gave one resident advice on dying her hair. and then i french braided the other two resident's hair. i think the staff office should now be known as, Julie's Hair Salon. number one for all your styling needs since 2008.
i feel like i had a point to this blog entry. like, i meant to tell you something. hm.
i realized that after tomorrow night's shift, i'm just doing overnights until after thanksgiving!!!! i am happy about this. i am even more happy because i really have nothing to do on all those days.
i'm really dreading having to leave Ruby Tuesday over my thanksgiving break.
OH! i just remembered something!!!! the heater guys are coming tomorrow! or, today, i guess. sometime between 12:30pm and 3:30pm. doesn't that suck? SUCH big window!
but, they're cleaning my heater and i am happy about that. it's all dusty. that heater makes me so nervous. it's like a fireplace in a metal box. one central heating source for the whole apartment.
wow i'm really tired. i guess i have to be up early. kind of.
it was COLD tonight. when i went out to the library it was like, 30 degrees. crazy. it was like 70 degrees all weekend in providence.
on saturday night kara and i got pad thai from this chinese restaurant down the street from where she lives. wow it was so good.
i guess i have nothing much else to talk about. i'm tired.
OH!!!!! i know what i can tell you.
so. monday night i was looking out my window. the window in my bedroom that overlooks the street. i like to inspect my neighborhood at nighttime. to see who's still up in the houses around mine. so, i'm watching the street very carefully. and then i see movement in the trees across the street.
immediatley i look over and a fox RUNS out from the woods holding something in its mouth. i think it was a squirrel. but it was a big fox. the first thing i thought was,
1. there better not be any deer chasing that fox
but the second thing i thought of was,
2. fantastic mr. fox opens next week!!!!!!!
also, something has changed in our newspaper delivery system. i never used to know when the newspapers were delivered. but the other night i was in bed and it was 3:30am and i heard this loud car drive by very slowly. and i could see the light from the headlights in my bedroom. so, i jumped out of bed and looked out the window. and the person in the car threw something into our yard.
at first i thought it was an egg. and i was like, "holy crap someone is egging our house!" but then i thought, "no wait, i bet it's the newspaper."
so, i waited until the next night at 3:30am. sure enough, i was in my living room and heard the car drive by.
and then tuesday night, i got into bed at 3:22am and i thought, "okay, i have to stay up for a little bit to see if the newspaper car drives by." SURE FREAKING ENOUGH, at 3:28am, the car drives by. i look out the window real quickly and the guys throws the newspaper into our yard.
now, i don't know if it's the same newspaper guy in a different car. or maybe something happened to his car over the weekend that is causing it to make this loud noise. or maybe it's a new newspaper guy who they just hired. maybe they changed the time of newspaper delivery.
but, something is different. because this is the first week where i have ever heard the newspaper be delivered.
and after the tuesday night delivery i thought, "newspaper delivery could be my next job." because, it takes place in the middle of the night. but then i quickly thought, "hm...driving around slowly at nighttime with my window down......maybe not." and also, there seems to be a higher chance of seeing deer or moose at nighttime.
today i was driving back home from getting coffee and i started thinking, "why don't deer come out more during the daytime?" are they scared? are they sleeping? are they busy? and then i thought, "well, i'll just have to start doing more things during the daytime." but then i remembered that i hate doing things in the daytime. i would much rather do them at night. which is prime deer time.
clearly, the reason why i am so terrified of deer is that i cannot stop thinking about them. ALWAYS i am thinking about deer.
there have been more than few instances where i'm in my bed and can't sleep because the thought of deer outside totally makes me paranoid. and i'll go to every window and check for them.
enough! enough talk about deer. and it doesn't help that deer are kara's favorite thing ever. she has a deer poster in her room at school. it's actually a poster for a band, but it has a drawing of deer on it.
ok. for some reason it's really hard to type right now. i think i'm really tired.
so, i'm going to go to bed. get a good, long sleep before the heat guys come.
alright, sweet dreams everybody. if i don't talk to you before work tomorrow, i hope everyone has a great thursday! a productive end of the week.
take care.
over and out.

"Today for lunch, and due to some serious early morning noise making, I will have BBQed parakeet with labrador aioli."
any! ways! just wanted to do a quick update before i head off to work. currently 3:19pm.
went to the post office and went to get a coffee after. i got a tiny phone book in my mailbox. it's like the cliff notes of phone books.
also, in this coffee shop that i go to they always have a different quote posted on their chalkboard. much in the style of Logan Echoll's voicemail message. this was today's quote: The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one. that quote is by none other than my favorite person, Oscar Wilde.
i thought that was fitting for me today.
and then! i was reading my horoscope a few minutes ago and i can't tell if it's supposed to be read with a sarcastic tone or not.
Play your cards right, and you'll end up with an instant replay of last night's fun. Then again, play them any way at all, and you'll probably get the same effect. So what's the hold up? Do you really not want to experience all that good stuff all over again? Sure you do. Go ahead and pick out a new outfit, and a new bottle of wine, and get ready to intensify this delicious new connection.
the last couple lines makes me think it's not sarcastic. but i think the first part is. at least, that's the way i'm reading it.
oh alright. it's time for me to go to work now.
i have the jeremy piven movie. pretty cool, right? it just came out yesterday! i'm the first netflixian to watch the dvd!
okay. hope you all have a great night. i'll probably talk to you laterrrr.
<3!
