the lovegame

that song by Lady Gaga? i'm totes into it right now. although, it has some pretty explicit innuendo.

anyways. i just finished watching The Wrestler. i had been putting off watching it because i was nervous about all the violence. so, i decided to watch it during the day.

MAN. what a film. great, great film. it was just like, really good. Mickey Rourke was awesome. the first probably....half hour or so was pretty violent. one part in particular. but even through that, it was still so good.

and, i don't know if you remember this, but i kept thinking back to my writing seminar that i took last year and the kid in my class wrote about that wrestler who killed his wife and son and then committed suicide. and he pretty much couldn't function anymore because his body and his brain was so damaged from the sport. sport? job? game? what is wrestling anyways? but, that story really affected me during the class, i remember. it's just all so incredible to me that people put themselves through this.

and i was thinking this through the whole movie. like, "why the heck is he putting himself through this??" and then at the end of the movie, there was one line that completely explained the entire thing. like, the entire film summed up in one line.

so, he's about to go into the ring after not wrestling for a while. his life is kind of falling apart. and someone is trying to convince him not to wrestle, not to go back in. and he says to her,

"ya know, the only place i get hurt is out there."

oh, such a great line. he means, not in the ring. it really put the whole movie into perspective. wow. great movie. great job, Darren Aronofsky. he's married to Rachel Weisz.

i'm kind of perplexed as to why Sean Penn won. i guess i have to see Milk again. i just remember not being that impressed with it. but, i won't get into the whole "brad" thing again. and the whole "leo" thing again. i'll wait until next awards season.

YEAH: see The Wrestler. i only had to close my eyes once.

oh, and i was so in love with Mickey Rourke's long blonde hair. oooo yes please. he was in the movie Spun with Jason Schwartzman and i was listening to that soundtrack the other day. and then i watched a clip on youtube of my favorite part. i named my blog after that clip. little known fact. that's a great movie. Spun. drug movie. meth users. Jason Schwartzman is awesome. and the soundtrack is top notch.

speaking of J.Schwartzman, has everyone seen his hilarious video for 'Microphone?' off of the new Coconut Records CD, Davy. great cd. better than the first. i just love him. he's probably one of those guys who if he asked me to marry him, i would just do it. no matter what.

- Jason Schwartzman
- Leo DiCaprio
- maybe Ewan McGregor

they come and they go, but some always remain.

anyways. yesterday when i was at Shaw's, there was this super cutie there. like, another shopper. he was wearing a red t-shirt, which made me extrememly happy because it was in spirit of the fourth of july. and, since i was wearing blue and white, we would have gone together pretty darn well.

i first saw him in the pet food aisle. he kind of stared at me for a long time. and then i went to get some whole wheat multi-grain bread. i saw him again in a different aisle. then again while i was checking out. i thought he was going to come in line behind me, but he chose a different cashier. i was really hoping he wouldn't notice that i bought Star Trek cheese-itz. i mean, what? no i didn't. who does that? definitely not me.

and then i walked out of the store a head of him. but he followed shortly after. and he got into a car with a tiny little dog. it was a semi-cute scene. whatever. he was a cutie. and then we drove away together. he went north to vermont, where his license plate was from. and i went to walgreen's to buy allergy medicine.

but, i think i made a smart decision about the allergy medicine even though i was still excited about the shaw's cutie.

so, i was standing there in the allergy aisle. an aisle i know so well. and i'm about to spend almost $25 on a 12 day supply of pills and a 30 day supply of eye drops.

and i'm thinking to myself. actually, i might have been thinking outloud, i can't really remember. but i hadn't been taking any allergy medicine for a couple days because i had run out and didn't want to leave the house (meaning, couch) to go get some. and i hadn't really been feeling any worse. meaning that the allergy medicine really wasn't doing anything to make me feel better.

so, i made the decision not to get any more allergy medicine. if it's not making me feel better and just keeping me from sleeping, then WHY would i continue to take it?? i'll wait until i can get a super medicine from the doctor which i have yet to find.

but, i did get the eye drops. those are crucial. i tried going without those for a few days and MAN.

so, i woke up saturday morning and could barely open my right eye. it felt like someone had punched me and it was all bruised. oh, it really, really hurt. and then as i was trying to remember if i had gotten into a "captain kirk" fight the previous night, i semi-remembered waking up in the middle of the night and furiously rubbing my eye because it itched/hurt so bad. so then i was worried that maybe i rubbed it hard enough to bruise it. so, i went to the mirror and no, it was not bruised. but, it still hurt. but, i eventually got it opened.

so, i decided that the $11 bottle of eye drops was, in fact, working MUCH MUCH better than the $4 bottle and it was definitely worth having. so, i purchased. it's cool because they're 12 hour drops, so you only put them in twice a day. and they really, really help. it's the generic Zaditor, or something. it makes me think of the fortune teller machine in Big. i guess they both work magic.

Ruby Tuesday is sleeping on one of Aliya's rocks right now and it's extremely cute. i took a bunch of pictures of her with my phone. um, because my phone has a camera. did you know that? like, one that can take pictures. unreal. i can't get over it. it can also take video and record sound. what?! wait a minute!

now i'm going to walk to the library and return a book. last night i was talking to the resident we have here and she was telling me that she was really dreading the staff who was working today and didn't want to be with her, etc, etc. so, i said that i needed to walk to the library and return a book and i asked if she would want to come with me. she said yes and i think she was happy i asked.

and then tomorrow, i'm leaving at 6:30 AM to drive one of the girls to Concord to the bus terminal. she's leaving. it's an early day, but i can come back and take a nap. and it's free gas and it's basically just driving. i'll wait with her to make sure she gets off safely, though. i'll be sad.

oookkk. i should get going. um, what? it's 5pm?? when did that happen? that movie was only 1.75 hours but it took me like, 3 to watch it? what? that doesn't make sense. it must be that time warp that was in the living room the other day.

anyways, have a great rest of the weekend. i'm thinking about you. and just know that i really enjoy these talks. i look forward to them, as i hope you do.

best!

<3, J.

i'm so glad you watched the wrestler. it's so so so good. so sad. but just so good. now i want to re-watch it. i think it will be on the top of my list.

also, i bet star-trek cheese-its taste way better than boring square ones.

also, maybe you should give the shaw's cutie one of your "lets be friends" business cards...
